The Little Brown Jug

lives...but not at the football games anymore.

With the consolidation of the two school systems and the demise of Clifton Forge High School, there is no more competition between the old Clifton Forge High School Mountaineers and the Covington High School Cougars football teams.

Their last game was played in 1983 and the Clifton Forge Mountaineers won. So, the jug went to Clifton Forge High School, but it didn't stay for long.

Following consolidation, the trophies of Clifton Forge High School, including the treasured Little Brown Jug, were put into storage at the new Alleghany High School.

 While responsible parties assured that the Jug was kept safe at the new Alleghany High School, it eventually ended up at the Covington High School where it can be seen today.
